Bio
Nina Zeitlin is an independent, award-winning singer/songwriter/producer. Her voice is unique and versatile with a distinctly big, earthy, and bluesy sound.
Described as a "first-rate vocalist" by Time Out New York, Nina has sung on Primetime network TV, feature films, and numerous TV & Radio commercials for brands such as NBC, CBS, MGM, Lipton, Kodak, and Comedy Central. Her original music has been featured on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and she has appeared on NBC's Nightly News with Brian Williams. Nina has enjoyed working with some wonderful producers and has had her songs released by a number of record labels and publishers.
Some of her most recent projects have included singing and producing an eclectic family album called King Pajama “Something Sweet”, recorded at her Brooklyn studio. In late-2009, this album won a Parents' Choice Award and was named a Top Ten Best Kid's/Family Album by Time Out New York Kids and NPR. She gained production experience as Executive Producer of a high-end music production company. She also scored two films for the NYC Film Race, both of which won “Best Original Music Score”.
Nina is currently performing all over New York City at such venues as The Mercury Lounge, The Bitter End, The Soho House, Southpaw, Sullivan Hall, 92Y Tribeca, and Arlene’s Grocery. She has sung with an electronica/blues band, a ten-piece funk band, and currently performs original music with her funk/soul/rock/pop band Heylady. A little background on the Nina’s beginnings - At the age of two, Nina was known to break into song, at age three she was singing "Singing in the Rain" in the rain, and by age four, she had taken up the piano. While studying Sociology and Music at Wesleyan University, Nina homed in on her ability to sing in a variety of styles – the vocalist for the Jazz Orchestra; soloist in the Ebony Singers Gospel Choir; co-wrote/produced/directed and performed in two original musical productions.
